"Jegog are a type of Gamelan instrument, unique to the village of Negara in West Bali. The bamboo xylophones are sometimes added to drums and small metal percussion to create an enchanting sound, often played between two groups. "

The Bunut Bolong tree is a Banyan tree with a big hole.
This tree is unique, because you can through it by car.
The holy tree is in these Manggisari.

Negara has a strong Muslim influence because it is close to Java. It has a big mosque in the center of the city. The countryside around Negara is flat and it was therefore easy to make wide roads. Along the main road you'll find the local warungs. One block south of the main road is Jl. Ngurah Rai, which is a convenient place to take a rest when you pass Negara by car. There are a few banks with ATMs, a gas station and Hardy's supermarket.

Negara is the most important city in western Bali in the province of Jembrana. Most tourists to Bali will have little reason to visit Negara, except for the Mecepung (Buffalo) Races in Perancak, which areclose by, or when you're driving on the main road to Gilimanuk Harbour.
A highlight of Negara itself, except the buffalo races, are the bamboo gamelan orchestras, which are famous in this area. Officially, this is called "a gamelan jagog" and some tourists buses to Java stop in Negara for lunch. Then they enjoy a short gamelan performance. The instruments of the orchestra are made of bamboo.
In the center of the town there's a road to the north. As you follow this road from the center you will find one of Jembrana's most beautiful landscapes. Nature is green and rich. You'll see loves, coffee and cocoa plantations and many flowers.

Just head north on the road. Most roads are suitable for cars. From the center of town you are quickly between the Balinese villages and the winding roads give you beautiful views of the coast.
South of Negara is the town of Loloan Timur, a traditional Bugis community. The Muslims who live here come from South Sulawesi. They are descendants of the famous Bugis sailors, who made their trade in East Indonesia. The Bugis were responsible for the introduction of the "Mekepung Races" in Negara.
The traditional Bugis style houses here are built on poles in this area and have two floors. The village is only 10 minutes from the center of Negara

Pantai Rening

The accommodation options in Negara are small, some suggestions are Hotel Wira Pada, which is in the center (Jalan Ngurah Rai 107). Another possibility is Hotel Ijodaging, located on the Jalan Sudirman.
The Wira Pada has a number of air-conditioned rooms. You can also look for some other local options. Negara is not decorated with tourism industry, so you won't find any luxury here. If you are staying in the center of this Balinese city, you can't go for a short while to Pantai Rening Beach, which is too far away from town.
You can also look for other accommodation options in a more quiet town. Alternatively, Medewi, which is 20 kilometers east and has something more to offer to western tourists. I have heard that Perancak also has accommodation options but that has not yet been checked.
