Garuda Wisnu Kencana
Cultural Park

"Huge cast statues of Wishnu and Garuda are visible from far off, however when you get close to it the huge size and details of the statues take your breath away. Don't forget to see the live Balinese dance performance. Visit in the early morning hours to avoid the sun. I am sure you would love this place."

Garuda Wisnu Kencana, or GWK for short, is the name of a cultural park on Baliís hilly southern coast on the peninsula is located not far from Jimbaran at Bukit Ungasan. It's about 20-minute ride south of Kuta. As this is on a higher altitude location, you can enjoy a panorama view of southern Bali from the restaurant. Because of its location, it is also a popular venue for weddings and other special events in the island. This cultural attraction is not yet finished but you can still enjoy the site which it offers.
The Cultural Park is about 263 metres above sea level, resulting in must-see spectacular views overlooking the island and the ocean. There is a statue of Wisnu (Vishnu) statue and that's the only one of its kind on the whole island. Another statue worth taking pictures is the mythical bird Garuda. Its history goes back to 1992 when the vision was created to become the landmark of Baliís world known tourist destination. The cultural park has become one of the favourite places in Bali for art and cultural performances, exhibitions, and conferences.

Street Theater is the starting point and end of the visit to Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park. Here we can find many shops and restaurants in one place. You can get Bali souvenir and GWK merchandise especially at GWK Souvenir Shop and Bali Art Market. You can even find Balinese spa and aromatherapy products in this shop. While here, you can try Balinese foot reflexology, and after a walk through the park. You can taste good food at the best price.
The Cultural Park is called "Garuda Wisnu Kencana". From the name, it appears that to be built is a park with a monument of Lord Vishnu riding Garuda bird with golden color (gold = gold). Lord Vishnu himself is a symbol preserver of the universe, while an eagle is a symbol of freedom, loyalty, and selfless devotion.

The plan, the statue of Lord Vishnu riding Garuda was built with a height of 75 meters, with the foundation as high as 70 meters. The wings of an eagle will also be stretched as wide as 66 feet. The main ingredient is the manufacture of copper and brass sculpture of a total weight of about 4,000 tons.
Passing the path to the statue of Lord Vishnu, you will be amazed by the great designer plans to carve limestone hills into relief the epic Mahabharata and Ramayana. Limestone hills have now been 'transformed' in such a way into huge blocks, and some of them have started to carve. Of course, this great work will also bounce back the image of Bali as an island in the eyes of the world.

From the classic epic of the adventure of Garuda, to another excitement of watching series of Balinese dances. Make an unforgettable journey through the unique themed area of GWK Cultural Park, when one of the world's largest monuments, one-stop tourist spot with beautiful panoramic view, one of the best Kecak Dance performances in Ungasan Bali, and various culinary vendors, not to mention the complete selection of local souvenir shops to complement your modern cultural experience are ready for you. Bring home impressive moments along, all these await you and your family.
The Garuda Wisnu Kencana monument will be the charm of the island of Bali, which can be seen from a distance. Above the height of the Bukit Ungasan, you can also watch the expanse of the southern part of Bali island with beaches overlooking the Indian Ocean. While in the north, you have a look at Ngurah Rai Airport and a view of the city of Denpasar. Enjoy the charm of nature above Bukit Ungasan this seems more complete if you take the time to watch the sunset (sunset).
Near the statue of Lord Vishnu is a sacred spring, named Parahyangan Somaka Giri. The source of this water is believed to cure many diseases, because it has a very good mineral content. Residents have long been using the water from Parahyangan Somaka Giri for treatment.

Certain events are taken place at the GWK. You can enjoy a variety of arts and cultural events in this place. From the beginning, GWK Cultural Park is designed to be one of the prestigious venue in Bali. In the Lotus Pond stage has a capacity of 7,500 people area for performances. This location can be used for musical performances and art shows that are colossal. Not to mention the part of Street Theatre, Plaza turtles, as well as the Exhibition Gallery, which can be used for purposes such as music performances, exhibitions, and even fashion shows.

Opening Hours: 08:00 Ė 22:00
Location: Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is located in Jalan Raya Uluwatu, Ungasan village, South Kuta sub-district, Badung district. It is about 15 to 20 minutes from Kuta, on the road from Jimbaran to Dreamland Beach, Uluwatu.
