WANAGIRI HIDDEN HILLS

THE FAMOUS BALI SWING

"Just before we arrived at the Pura Ulun Danu we made a stopover at Wanagiri Hidden Hill. That is a kind of viewing place with a nice view of the lake.
Where they have made a place with swings, reed baskets and reed passageways, all for the benefit of the tourist so that he can shoot beautiful places.
We left the swings to the youth, the wicker baskets ..... Rita wanted to use them! If only to get the feeling what a bird experiences in its life!"

The Bali Swing

Thee Wanagiri Hidden Hills are located in the highlands, near the villages of Munduk and Bedugul. It was originally a lookout point with a few small warungs along the way, set up as a resting place for the locals to eat and drink coffee with good views. It is now a popular 'selfie' spot, drawing tourists and locals from all over the island.
For geographic reasons, the name of the village of Wanagiri in Bali is derived from the word Wana meaning "forest" and Giri meaning "hill".

Wanagiri Hidden Hills of Bali has a charm of beauty that makes everyone who sees it feel hypnotized and in love. It is a beautiful natural landscape painting with a mountainous plateau backdrop, beautiful green trees, and complete with views of Tambingan and Buyan lakes.

Besides offering a beautiful panorama and the cool, fresh and clean air temperature, everyone who visits will feel “at home”. Hence, do not be surprised when many local, domestic and foreign tourists relax and refresh in Wanagiri Hidden Hills.

The earlier you go to Wanagiri Hidden Hill the better. This way you avoid the crowds and you can take a good photo without being in front of you and taking a long time. You have to pay an entrance fee, but then you have a buffet lunch and access to all the swings, nests and attractions. You simply pay an entrance fee and spend as long as possible on the property taking photos.

A bird's nest

Essentially, you're paying for the use of a bunch of props and a damn gorgeous backdrop and lunch buffet. The photo props include a large swing (to actually swing on), smaller swings for cute photos, nests, boats, etc.
All props look rustic (not in an old way, but in a charming way) and are made of wood and bamboo, which I suspect are all locally sourced and made. This "playground" houses 12 single swings with heights ranging from 10m to 78m above the ground, old school tandem swing, 6 nests, butterfly garden, helicopter, heart shaped rock in the jungle and huge rocks over the edge above a valley, all with a great view of the jungle.

Beautiful sight

Friends reported that Wanagiri Hidden Hills was once the most haunted place in Bali, according to the stories of residents who were afraid to come to this place. The reason was that the hidden hills of Wanagiri were once used as a place to make corpses disappear. But what is happening now? Without even thinking about it, the previously famous spooky horror location has been transformed into a famous tourist attraction with many facilities that pamper visitors who come.
Wanagiri Hidden Hills is located between Munduk and Bedugul. These places are a stone's throw away. Further time indication:

  • Lovina about 45 minutes

  • Ubud about 90 minutes

  • Canggu about 2 hours

  • Kuta about 2,5 hours

  • Of course you can combine it with temples and waterfalls.

Munduk Moding Plantation

Situated on a working coffee plantation near Bali’s central lakes and Munduk hill station is this natural resort, spa, and boutique hotel. Munduk Moding Plantation is surrounded by a serene natural environment consisting of green jungle, coffee trees, rice fields, and other plantations found on the island. Built within five hectares of private space, while boasting a handful of villas and suites, guests can surely relax far from noisy crowds. Tennis courts and a pool are provided on-site for recreation and leisure, and so too are the garden and spa. Simply keep in mind that Munduk Moding Plantation will, without a doubt, enhance your vacation in North Bali.
